C{space is Dayton’s only downtown community space dedicated to supporting local art, music, talent and creativity of all kinds. C{space is an uncensored venue that invites participation from every cultural and geographical cross section of the entire Dayton community and beyond.
Urban Nights High School Extravaganza: Twice yearly, c{space hosts a unique, all ages, high school extravaganza as part of downtown Dayton’s Urban Nights series. High school students from around the city and inlying suburbs participate in spoken word, performance art, fine art displays, jazz ensembles, strings ensembles, dance ensembles and garage band performances. It’s an event like no other in downtown Dayton….it’s all ages, and the night belongs to the kids!
Ladyfest Dayton: c{space has played host to the first two incarnations of Ladyfest Dayton, a local arm of the international art and music festival, Ladyfest, which celebrates the unique artistic and musical contributions of women. Artists, artisans, dancers, performance artists and musicians, all come together for this three day festival founded locally by three Dayton area women. The third Ladyfest Dayton is slated for August, 2010
The Dayton Poetry Slam - Dayton’s best known group of spoken word enthusiasts meets monthly at c{space for routine spoken word nights, slams, and special events including national touring spoken word performers
C{space Workshops - A recently organized addition to c{space’s internal programming, the c{space workshops occur routinely on Sunday afternoons at c{space and include opportunities to learn all sorts of arts and crafts related skills and techniques.
Campus Connect - c{space has partnered with the Dayton Downtown Partnership to hold semi-annual “Welcomefest” events for the Dayton region’s colleges bringing students downtown and helping them understand the underground music, art and recreational scene that is available to them in the Dayton community.
C{space Group Shoots - c{space has held one group photography shoot in 2010 to rave reviews. This private event links local area photographers with local area models in a day long celebration of photographic creativity and networking. A second Group Shoot is scheduled for the spring of 2010.
